Laurie Carter’s latest project is a labour of love inspired by the travels of iconic Canadian artist and author Emily Carr. Emily Carr’s BC: Vancouver Island, is the first in a two volume series that explores the life of Carr and the province she loved in a new context. Laurie is also the author of Grandma Wears Hiking Boots: A personal guide to the Okanagan Valley and Gifts of the Okanagan, a coffee table photo essay produced in collaboration with her husband Bruce Kemp. Her Taylor Kerrick Mysteries Ivory Express and Bear of a Honeymoon are available online in eBook format. Laurie’s freelance work appears in magazines and newspapers in Canada and the United States.
A transplant from southern Ontario, Laurie is passionate about her adopted home in British Columbia. She serves as senior editor of Okanagan Life magazine and contributes travel stories and photographs to a variety of magazines. Her work has been recognized with numerous travel media awards.
Laurie lives in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley with her husband and two SPCA rescue cats.
